Labour have condemned people to overcrowded housing

April 19, 2010 1:08 PM

Local LibDem Shadow MP for Preston, Mark Jewell has signed the petition by Shelter to update the 1935 overcrowding standard.

Mark Jewell commented, "Labours betrayal of the hundreds of thousands of families stuck in cramped conditions is frankly unforgivable.

"Overcrowding means children unable to do their homework and families falling apart due to the stress of living on top of each other.

"There are many families in Preston who are living in overcrowded conditions with no prospect of moving to a better house.

"Under LibDem plans we would bring thousands of empty homes in Preston back into use as part of a National stimulus package to create jobs and build up Britain's infrastructure."
