Local campaigner, Mark Jewell wants the Government to stop its proposed changes to the police funding formula, after it was found Lancashire Police could face further cuts of £87 million.

Mark Jewell explained, "This Conservative government has chosen to cut taxes for the wealthiest by over £3 billion whilst proposing these cuts to the police".

Lancashire's Chief Constable, Steve Finnigan, said, ""This is NOT scare-mongering - this is reality if these cuts go ahead. We will not be viable as a police force by 2020. These proposed cuts are catastrophic to the people of Lancashire."

Mark launched his campaign after the policing minister had to delay cuts to police forces when an error was found in the calculations. The proposed changes for 2016/17 will now be delayed, but the Home Office did not say for how long.

Mark Jewell says, a delay isn't good enough. He wants the cuts to be scrapped and he's asking people to sign a petition to that effect. You can sign the petition here
