Local Campaigner, Mark Jewell, attended the public meeting at St Christopher's Church earlier this summer.

Mark explained, "the public meeting was to hold an open meeting about the concept design and the Church's continued work within the community".

Rev Peter Hamborg explained that the aim was to fund the new building from charitable trusts interested in community projects. He added, that securing the future of the building secures the long term future of the remembrance garden.

Rev Peter also said that the project had to be sustainable and self funding. When the concerns of voluntary groups were raised, it was acknowledged that groups like the scouts would be protected.

Car parking was also highlighted. This will be better defined during the planning stage.

Mark added, "The church is clearly non-political, but nonetheless, it does represent a focal point for our community. I will do all I can to help promote our community hubs. Whether you want to have your say about the future of St Christopher's or simply want to enquire about the hire of their hall or the activities there, you can e-mail Rev Peter Hamborg at revpete@stchristopherslea.org or visit the church's facebook page.
