Mark in Cottam (Mark Jewell)Mark Jewell, the Lib Dem candidate for Lea has acknowledged the 20 years Cllr Christine Abram has represented Lea.

Councillor Christine Abram is stepping down at this May's local elections, 'disillusioned with the way the Town Hall is run' (Lancashire Evening Post 30/03/2018).

Mark Jewell commented, "Whatever party you represent, 20 years of public service is no mean feat. To an extent I have some sympathy with her reasons for standing down. However, I disagree with her that there is nothing opposition Councillors can do to influence the Labour controlled Council.

"If I am elected as your Councillor in May, I will be a voice for Lea. Challenging Labour, with the strength of our arguements and simply exposing their bad decisions.

"Labour have dragged their feet on key decisions, for example with leisure centres, wasting council tax payers money in the process. Labour are no friends of the residents of Lea, wanting the parish council to pay for cutting grass verges, 'because they can afford it' (Labour's finance cabinet member).

With local Conservatives is disarray and not offering effective opposition to this Labour controlled City Council, I ask you to lend me your vote.

I will speak up for the residents of Lea and challenge Labour's waste, when money is very short".
